At the Society for Historical Archaeology meeting in Boston, Massachusetts in 2020, DAACS invited participants to take part in an assessment of material culture training within the field. By identifying a range of archaeological materials to the best of their ability, participant responses illuminated where differences in terminology and training gaps may hamper historical archaeologists’ abilities to compare their data. The results of our findings are summarized here:
